There’s a genuine warmth to this family-run cafe that you simply can’t fake — the kind where fondness flows both ways between the customers and the people who make and serve the coffee and food. The baguettes and loaves here are a labour of love by Dieu Tran, who starts his day extremely early to bake them fresh, while his wife, Trinh Tran, is often at work in the kitchen crafting the other dishes on offer. The menu splits into two halves: one with classic brunch staples, the other with Vietnamese favourites like bánh mì, phở and bún bò xào. If you’re lucky, you might even catch their famed, hefty pies fresh out of the oven. And if that’s not enough, make a trip up to the counter and nab a pastry (an éclair, croissant, danish) that takes your fancy.
