Great Thai on Krd
This is slightly embarrassing to admit, but while I do love the flavour of Hainanese chicken rice, the limp poached chicken often reminds me of the time my friend got his hands on a sous vide machine and was not aware that you’re supposed to grill the food after you bathe it. However, at Good Ol’ Days, the latest entrant into the Lim Chhour Food Court, while they specialise in the Thai variation of the dish (khao man gai), you can also get khao man gai yang — the same dish but with roast chicken instead of poached. It comes with a fresh, spicy, limey/citrusy dipping sauce and eaten all together it’s unbelievably good. Easily my favourite thing to eat on K Rd at the moment — Good Ol’ Days has overtaken competitors as the number-one lunchtime go-to. — Simon Chesterman
