Bandung is the type of place you can turn up to at almost any time of the day, with any company, and sink into the easiness of the surroundings. The cosy, lantern-lit indoor dining room opens into a lush covered courtyard out the back decked out in vibrant parasols and palms — like an idyllic escape, even for just an hour or so. The food mirrors the fit-out, drawing inspiration from Bali and Java. Weekday brunch runs until 11am, while on the weekends, it becomes an all-day affair, spanning light bites, hearty full breakfasts, crêpes, and our favourite, the Indonesian breakfast section. Come lunchtime, the menu leans fully Indonesian, with an impressive roster of dishes. Do try the soto ayam — delicately spiced, served with deep-fried potato cakes and extraordinarily soul-warming.
