Best Room / Runner-up, Best All-day Restaurant

All-day bistros are one of the hottest trends in Auckland dining right now, but few get the formula right as well as Odettes. The first evening restaurant of celebrated cafe owners Joost and Clare van den Berg (formerly of Herne Bay’s Zus and Zo and Takapuna’s Zomer) is a large and very elegant room in which the whole frontage opens onto a light and airy covered courtyard.

Inside, the seating around the walls is arranged as a series of divans around tables: there’s nowhere better in town for a group to relax and have a terrific time. As for the food, by chef Josh Kucharick, it’s original, exciting and marvellously well presented.

A favourite dish: asparagus slaw with tomatoes, bresaola & truffle oil.
