City-Fringe Bistro—French-style wine bar/bistro

For more great videos, check out our Youtube Channel.

Spend one evening at this casual French eatery and co-owner Ismo Koski will have you feeling like a regular. Tell him how hungry you are and put the meal in his hands: he’s a master at making just the right selections for his patrons. After stints at fine-dining restaurants The French Café, The Grove and Sidart , Koski is one of Auckland’s wine experts and will guide you deftly through his list of 30 glass pours, plus more by the bottle. Head chef Leslie Hottiaux is from Toulouse and makes the best sausage in Auckland, which you order by the quarter-metre. It comes coiled around itself like a snail shell, with house-made mustard and pickles on the side. Order a few things, and then some more. The bag of bread with creamy, pale-yellow butter is particularly hard to resist.

A favourite dish
Whole-roasted cauliflower, goats’ curd, almond and mint.
