?Clooney is a finalist in the Metro Peugeot Restaurant of the Year 2019 awards for Best Fine-Dining Restaurant. To see a full rundown of all our winners, click here.
Clooney is a pure fine-dining experience where the dramatically lit room, intense ambience and expert staff, as well as the food, are all part of its appeal. Owner Tony Stewart and chef Nobu Lee have continued to hero New Zealand ingredients, curating them to perfection. Clooney’s new 256 DIY degustation menu is a fascinating meld of storytelling and innovative food: waitstaff weave a tale of the dish’s inspiration, combining intention beautifully with flavour. The canapes tell a story of New Zealand’s culinary past and future, offering a playful take on fish and chips – with smoked eel instead – and ends in a mouthful of locust flour. Service is impeccable and unobtrusive, hosts gliding through the black-string curtains to place a spoon down just when you need it.
