Jun 14, 2019 What's On
A weekly round-up of what’s on in Auckland so you can plan your weekend and the week ahead.
Kitchen Table Sessions
It’s the last couple of nights for this very tasty live talk show by Kate Barnes, where invited guests head into the kitchen – on stage – to do a little story and share a dish with you. Yep, food is included in the ticket. Tonight’s line-up is looking good: David Farrier, Lips and Pax Assadi picks up the knife and the mic, while tomorrow’s sees Ray Shipley, Lips and a mystery guest step up to the cutting board.
Till 15 June | Basement Theatre
Cabaret Season
The speakeasy-esque Wintergarden will be the home of The Civic’s Cabaret season, for shows filled with music, drag, theatre and comedy. Jennifer Ward-Lealand stars in an exploration of rousing anthems with “expose the hypocrisy of politics and the art of the possible”; Melbourne cabaret ensemble YUMMY makes their Auckland debut; the NZ Mix Tape features Liam Finn, Nadia Reid and Anna Coddington with the Philarmonia Orchestra; and more. Enjoy the magic of the longest night of the year. For dinner, choose between trucks like Temaki, The Hungry Swine and The Rolling Pin, and for dessert, Sweet As Crepes, Grownup Donuts or Lalele Organic Gelato. La Cigale will provide the cheeses and mulled wine for a comforting winter warmer.

The Wolves
“Lace up your cleats for a full-intensity run at the teen psyche.” At the teen psyche? When I’ve been trying to run away from the very moment I turned 20? Okay. Q Theatre’s loft transforms into a football pitch as nine teenage girls come together to train and play in Sarah DeLappe’s Pulitzer Prize-nominated debut. Frank, hilarious, messy, mean, compassionate.
20 June onwards | Q Theatre
